Hear My Heart / Written By John W. Stevenson

You hear the cry of my heart Lord

You see my heart each time it beats
You hear my heart each time it cries
It cries out for more of You Lord

It remains a mystery
The depth of love You have for me
Giving Your life at Cavalry
I know that there’s no love that’s greater

You know the plans and You always see
Beyond my thought’s to what’s best for me
You know my heart where it longs to be
And that’s in perfect beat with Yours

You see my heart each time it beats
You hear my heart each time it cries
It cries out for more of You Lord

You see my heart each time it beats
You hear my heart each time it cries
It cries out for more of You Lord

You see my heart each time it beats
You hear my heart each time it cries
It cries out for more of You Lord

Every beat of my heart
You hear the cry of my heart Lord

Every beat of my heart
You hear the cry of my heart Lord

Every beat of my heart
You hear the cry of my heart Lord

Every beat of my heart

Story Behind the Song
"Hear My Heart"

The psalmist wrote, "I will praise the Lord with my whole heart". David was passionate about his love and pursuit of God!

Worshiping God is all about relationship! We were created to be in relationship with Him. The truth is, there is no meaningful relationship where the heart is not involved! When I wrote this song I was thinking about my heart for God and also the heart of a friend of mine.

My friend had recently shared with me that he was diagnosed with a heart problem. As we talked and eventually prayed, I left that conversation thinking about how faithful our God is. It is He who not only saved us, but is keeping us! Every breath, every heart beat is because of His goodness, His mercy and  His faithfulness!

As I thought about my friend who was concerned about the diagnoses, I began to write, "You see my heart each time it beats, You hear my heart each time it cries, It cries out for more of You Lord, Every beat of my heart". He is the one who sees our heart and hears even the faintest cry! Our joys and our sorrows. He sees and knows them all!

I reminded my friend who is a worshiper*, that the God whom he worships is the One Who has allowed his heart to beat all of these years and as he continued to put his trust in Him, he could expect Him to do no less!

I am glad to tell you that my friend is STILL walking in the healing power of our risen Savior and he is serving God through his gift of music to lead hundreds of thousands into the Presence of the Lord!

My friend's name is... Darwin Hobbs!

*A worshiper is one who is intimately aquainted with and has a daily relationship with God exhibited through obedience.- J.W. Stevenson
