In November, 2009 John W. Stevenson and I traveled to Awassa, Ethiopia. We had been invited by Pastor Moses Vegh of Ambassador Ministries and Shiloh Church of Oakland, CA. to minister to 60 graduates of Shiloh Bible College in Awassa and also to over 3000 students from a local university. While there, we were privileged to speak prophetically into the lives of the graduating students at the Bible college. At the local university we ministered in worship and Apostle John taught from his book Worshiper By Design as well as on other various subjects.
After traveling over 25 hours, we landed in Addis Abbaba. I immediately felt the hardship of this country as I saw the dirt roads and the buildings with no sure foundations. You could see the great need in the faces of the children who walked the street.
We had a four-hour drive from Addis Abbaba through the countryside on dirt roads to Awassa. As we met the people of Awassa we could sense in them a hunger for the presence of the Lord. Their gratitude for our coming was obvious. As we prayed, prophesied and ministered to them it was as if their lives were opening up as they realized all the wonderful plans the Lord has for them!
There was one little boy whose eyes just pierced my heart. I just wanted to hold him and give him all I had!
The anticipation of the college student to experience the time of worship was remarkable. As we began to minister, they immediately stood in reverence to the Lord and expressed unrestrained worship to Him.
We had the wonderful privilege of distributing free copies of Worshiper By Design and CD's of Apostle John's worship music; both the book and CD were sown by many of the participants of our Worshiper By Design Evening of Worship and book signing event held in October. It was a joy to see the expressions of gratitude of the students who treasured it like a prized possession. It was overwhelming!
After our time in Awassa, we spent some time in Kenya at Nairobi Lighthouse Church, which is a flourishing ministry with a tremendous heart for people, wonderful hospitality, and outstanding music, worship and dance ministry. We had the opportunity to minister prophetically and in worship. The Lord moved in incredible ways as we ministered a new sound of worship in this land.
This was a life changing experience for all involved!
